The stroke of midnight at the beginning of 2009 marked the international launch of IYA2009.
In Brazil, fireworks resembling stars, comets, planets and other
cosmic objects lit up the sky over Rio de Janeiro. The Dawn of IYA
project got underway with the largest coordinated solar observation
project in history. The Cosmic Diary was launched with over 50
professional astronomers blogging online. The 365 Days of Astronomy
projects began its run of daily podcasts.
Trinidad will begin
its IYA activities with several astronomy and science groups launching
media events, public observing sessions and awareness campaigns. Check
